Frequency rising but claims counts still down.
The Insurance Service Office reports that the frequency of auto insurance claims rose for the third consecutive quarter in the first three months of this year. Claims frequency is up 1.3 percent since the most recent low in the second quarter of last year.
But claims counts are still down from what they were in 2008, Insurers paid 220,000 fewer claims (almost 4 percent) over the most recent 12-month period for which stats are available, compared to what they paid in a 12-month period ending in mid-2008.
